I noticed the Heemraadsingel in Rotterdam, and how much of it I had walked past without truly seeing.
We walk the same streets every day, yet we stop noticing them.
The water changes colour with the light, a wall carries a pattern we've never once looked at directly. Somewhere between familiarity and repetition, beauty becomes invisible.
"Verborgen Vormen" ("Hidden Shapes") is a capsule collection about the shapes and colours we walk past without registering, the ones that only appear once you stop expecting nothing from a place you already think you know. It is about slowing down long enough for the ordinary to become strange again.
The collection translates what I found along the Heemraadsingel into garment shapes and colour: a silhouette, the specific colour, a texture noticed on a wall and never again forgotten. Nothing is invented from nothing. Every form has a source, hidden in plain sight, in a place I pass through almost every day.
Through this collection, I want to create a small shift in attention. Not searching for something new. But finally seeing what was always there.
